Hi Everyone,

I need to relay some information to all of you. I have been reading poetry in the forum and posting replies to new and old members inviting them to stop by our new voicechat. 95% of them respond "I have tried, but I cannot get in because of my dial-up system-I use AOL." Monetary, when you get the chance, could you please respond to this thread and share some tips on how to get around this.

Hey lady.

Once you log on to the net using AOL, you should minimize the AOL window, click on Internet Explorer (IE) outside of AOL and then try to enter voice chat. That should work. Also, click on the AOL window every now and again or AOL will log you off because your no activity time has passed.

Most people who are having problems, including those with MACs, should install the updated version of IE by going here

Download the IE update that goes along with your version of IE or download the most up-to-date version of IE if possible. Of course, downloading the most current version of IE is advisable to downloading the updates...unless the new version of IE does not work with your operating system.

I agree with Monetary...Try accessing the room thru internet explorer. My isp is MSN.com I have no problems at all and since both MSN and internet explorer are products of Microsoft I can use either to access any and all sites of the forum.

Yes, I have AOL and have walked through the steps of logging into the chat using it. Like Monetary said above, have them minimize AOL (do check back often for that inactivity alert) and launch IE outside of AOL, not the version built into AOL.

$$RICH$$ has AOL also, and we walked through this and he gets in fine.

When I tried to log into the chat using AOL's version of Explorer, I had problems.

Steps for using our voice chat with AOL:

1. Login to AOL
2. Minimize AOL Window
3. Launch Explorer Outside of AOL by clicking on the icon in their task bar or going to START >> PROGRAMS >> INTERNET EXPLORER.
4. Enter www.destee.com/chat using that newly launched browser window.
5. Be sure to check that inactivity alert from AOL.

Thanks for helping me, Destee. MBA was helpful when I got in chat that night, showing me around a bit. Once I get my mic, it'll be better for me I think. :sand:
