Destee,
Couldn’t agree with you more on this issue! It simply is a sin and a shame for the original people to have to continue to play second fiddle, so to speak. Hears hoping Brother O answers your last question left hanging, how do we now see ourselves!
Clyde Coger 09-11-2008, 12:43 PM A bump for my Friend, Brother O.
Zulile 09-11-2008, 01:19 PM well - it's pretty open/shut in my eyes.. and I believe Brother Omowale's comment suits my opinion.. even if he meant something completely different
Visible to me are Black folk achieving things all over the globe.. Black Presidents, Chief Justices, Prime Ministers.. they abound. So identifying as Black and yet dismissing/not acknowledging all of us and our achievements.. sits kinda odd with me. I think it returns to the prospect of true Black Unity which should start in in our minds.. thoughts.. lead to words.. lead to actions kind of thing. Utopia, perhaps ;)
I understand Destee meant Americans who happen to be Black - hehe - as it's the American system of injustice towards their resident Blacks which is the underlying topic in this thread.
I believe there will always be Black American 'firsts' as the system which oppresses continues to develop and morph to suit - and this system will ensure white folks are going to get there first.. wherever 'there' is, and Black American folk will follow at a speed determined by them.

Got it Zulile,
Always interesting though, to read Brother O's take, especially on just what it is that blacks or calliing themselves, now.
Zulile 09-11-2008, 01:31 PM ..ummmmm.. I wasnt speaking on his behalf ;) just expressing my take on the topic.

Zulile,
Understood and acknowledged with: Got it Zulile. Actually, Destee asked the question of Brother O, and I became very interested in hearing him express, and bumped. Loved your input, however, we don't have a problem do we?
Zulile 09-11-2008, 01:39 PM Not at all, Clyde, not at all.

Brother Clyde...I didnt leave anything "hanging". Im just here much these days and oftentimes I will post then move on without going back and checking responses.
In answering the question Sister Destee asked I dont want to get into another circular discussion but there are several people who in the past month that have argued with me AGAINST using the description BLACK PEOPLE even to the point one has accused me of being SATAN.
I myself have asked a question, several in fact that have gone unanswered, some of several years so I myself feel as if I have been "left hanging".
To be more specific I will just give a few examples.
"non-white people"
"Asiatics"
Furthermore all someone has to do is read this thread.
http://destee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55577
So Brother Clyde since you did respond to my initial response in the thread in question your response here seems rather confusing since I have CLEARLY stated how I SEE MYSELF AND OURSELVES!
omowalejabali 09-11-2008, 02:20 PM Got it Zulile,
Always interesting though, to read Brother O's take, especially on just what it is that blacks or calliing themselves, now.
I dont see why my "take" would be scrutinized but there are numerous folks here who clearly dont identify as Black and consider those of us who do to be confused, Satan, brain-washed and a number of other derogatory terms that I dont have enough time to give all the numerous examples from responses to some of my posts alone in the last two months. If I was to attempt giving examples dating back to 2002 it would most likely take up enough bandwith to host my own site.
For example the author of the thread Whats your Nationality? clearly has made numerous statements concerning the origin and derogatory nature of identifying as Black.
Clearly those who speak of "counter-racism" also speak of us as "non-white people" and some have even stated that there is no such thing as "black people".
IM REALLY TIRED OF ALL THIS DOUBLE TALK AND GAME PLAYING SOME PEOPLE ARE ENGAGING IN HERE.
http://destee.com/forums/showpost.php?p=537837&postcount=22
In fact how much more clear can I get speaking concerning "the epitome of irony"?

omowalejabali,
Please don't allow this to confuse you. And thanks for the info, I see my input as well, for you, in acknowledgement and support in the link you provided. Above all, don't even think about hanging posts, that is my concern, sorry about that, my Friend.
Moreover, I thought, perhaps, you had narrowed it down to just a few words by now, and that is what I was most interested in...Peace, my Friend.

As far as narrowing it down I did state,
"Asiatics"
"non-white people"
I will also add the obvious which is "Other"
Some also say Im not black Im African or Im Moorish or Im Jewish or Im Christian.
And yes I sure do know some Christians who dont identify with any race or color only as Christian. Just as some Muslims who only identify as Muslim.
So how really can I narrow this down much further when there are so many examples that are OBVIOUS as expressed in these threads alone?

omowalejabali,
It is fair to say that of a senior in these forums, that is well liked and admired by many, it is not scrutiny to ask an opinion. Again, thanks for the input and don't do something you do not want to do, get involved in circular discourse. Thanks again, my Brother.

LOL!
Brother if you continue to ask questions and then I dont respond then it does become circular as has been proven in other threads when folks "wait for a response" and some even demand one. Hmm...anyway I forgot one reference which is "so-called black people" as evident in the thread Racism/"White Supremacy"...Fact or Fiction?
Clearly my initial response in THIS thread was based on interactions in one or more threads which I have referenced and it was based on a level of frustration I experienced which led me to make the comments and motivated me to bring this thread up in the first place.
