I'm tired of one dimensional MCs. Radio MCs are hurting hiphop talking about drugs, guns, money and disrespecting women. That's the extent of their depth. It will take conscious MCs to help hiphop get back to where it started. Conscious MCs have lyrics that we can relate to, that make sense and that make a statement. But they don't get enough air play. Who do you feel are conscious MCs? And who do you feel is the hottest conscious MC out now? I heard a compilation called "Being Black" that consists of conscious MCs. Bahamadia, Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, just to name a few. Meaningful music for the mind. If you like conscious hiphop, check out this compilation. Holla back!

I'm a MC,and MC's as a whole need to raise the bar, anyone who creates has a leval of accountability for their creations.True many of my people buy the music because of the radio play it gets or because of a rappers name.Record companies are nothing without big names,an establihed name can't be recreated so the artist on the labels DO have a degree of "say-so's" !!So start saying something.Few like Nas have reconized the problem and are trying to change the game, and stil getting paid to doing it.Don't be fooled into thinking the consumers and record companies are responsible for Hip-Hop's present state, the artist voices are heard. If Emenim decided to drop a conscious album right now he would still sell ,and still get all the play he wanted.Artist have the first responsibility!!
