AQUARIUS THE WATER BEARER...

Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the zodiac, which the Sun transits during the second month of winter, from about January 20th to about February 20th. The symbol for this sign is The Water Bearer; its polarity is positive; its element is air; its quality is fixed; its ruling planet is Uranus (its co-ruler is Saturn), and on the human anatomy Aquarius rules the ankles and the circulatory system...

In this sign the intellectuality of the element air and the persistence of fixity combine with the innovating force of the planet Uranus to create an individual who can be liberal, eccentric, and highly opinionated at the same time. The symbol for Aquarius is a human figure pouring water from a receptacle; yet Aquarius is an air sign. The water here does not represent emotion – it represents truth...

Aquarians – who include not only Sun-sign Aquarians, but all in whose horoscopes the sign is emphasized – are seekers and disseminators of truth. This is the same truth of which the Bible says, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free...” (John 8:32)

Aquarians are dedicated to the realization of the ideal society, characterized by liberty, equality, and fraternity. Whereas lordly Leo (their polar opposite and complementary sign) believes in monarchy and the divine right of kings, altruistic Aquarius believes in democracy and the divine right of human beings...

Rulership of Aquarius was traditionally assigned to Saturn, a planet that is in accord with the sign’s rationality and interest in government and science. After its discovery in 1781, Uranus became the modern ruler of Aquarius, as this odd planet (it rotates on its sides!) was found to be appropriate to the unconventionality of this sign, and the Aquarian interest in social reform and progress...

Guided by reason rather than convention, Aquarians reject the prevailing norms. They reach into the future to discover the new technologies of tomorrow, and delve into the past to revive the simpler ways of yesterday. Either way, these independent thinkers seem slightly “out of sync” with their time. This sign can produce cranks, agitators and fanatics – “rebels without a cause” – or the greatest humanitarian leaders and inspired geniuses of the highest kind (e.g., Charles Darwin, Thomas Edison, Susan B. Anthony, Thomas Paine, and Wolfgang Mozart)...

All the air signs (Gemini and Libra are the other two) are concerned with relationships, but while Gemini is the sign of siblings and Libra the sign of husbands and wives, Aquarius is the sign of friends. Most Aquarians feel more at home in a group of people than in an intimate situation. Even young Aquarian children come to life in company, and delight in cutting into adult conversations with their own babbling comments! Parents are sometimes troubled by their Aquarian infants’ unpredictable eating and sleeping patterns, not to mention their frequent insurrections. Aquarian children have minds of their own and will not react well to an arbitrary show of authority. But their originality and ingenuity will make their parents proud...

Although Aquarius is the coldest sign in the zodiac, Aquarians are capable of love, but their version is somewhat impersonal. Much of their energy is likely to go into group activities, public life, or some kind of absorbing project of value to mankind, and their partners must give them the freedom they need to pursue their distant goals. Though seldom passionate, they are faithful and can be highly imaginative lovers, because Uranus rules the unconventional!...

Their most compatible signs are: Aries, Libra, Gemini and Sagittarius; Cancer, Capricorn, Virgo and Pisces are neutral; Taurus and Scorpio are likely to be difficult; with another Aquarian there is a good basis for friendship; and with Leo, their polar opposite, there will be both attraction and tension. But ultimately the question of compatibility can be answered only by careful comparison of the two horoscopes.

Aquarians like to work in groups, or, if alone, they must feel their work makes a contribution to mankind. The sign is associated with intellectual activity – especially writing, inventing, and science, also liberal politics and the arts, especially music. Because it is a group effort demanding technical skills, filmmaking would be an excellent career choice.

The colors of Aquarius are purple, violet, lavender and maroon; its birthstones are the pearl and amethyst; its day of the week is Saturday, which is ruled by its co-ruler, Saturn.

The following are some prominent African-Americans born under the sign Aquarius:

Hank Aaron, Marian Anderson, Anita Baker, Eubie Blake, Bobby Brown, Jim Brown, LeVar Burton, Natalie Cole, Angela Davis, Frederick Douglass, Roberta Flack, Arsenio Hall, Sherman Hemsley, Gregory Hines, Rick James, Michael Jordan, Alicia Keys, Bob Marley, Toni Morrison, Randy Moss, Billy Ocean, Hakeem Olajuwon, Rosa Parks, Leontyne Price, Anita Pointer, Smokey Robinson, Bill Russell, Lawrence Taylor, Glynn Turman, Alice Walker, Herb Williams, and Oprah Winfrey...

Aquarians are more difficult to recognize than any other sign in the zodiac. This is because the combined forces of Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) and Saturn (its traditional ruler) make for a serendipitous union of sobriety and sensuousness... :)

Aquarius is the sign of friends. One’s best friend is the spirit of God that dwells within. The kind of treatment this best friend receives depends upon one's physical and mental condition. Shakespeare’s splendid admonition – “Let this be above all things, to thine own self be true, and then it will follow as the night the day, thou cannot be false to any man.” – takes on added meaning when interpreted in this light. The statement that the sign Aquarius relates to friends refers – first and foremost – to the friend that dwells within...

Aquarians often draw their shades to the top of the window! This is because the Sun is in its detriment in Aquarius, because this sign is opposite Leo, the sign in which the Sun is dignified. Therefore Aquarians constantly seek sunshine and warmth. It is said that they have the coldest feet in the zodiac!...

Cyberspace became a reality in the electronic dawning of the Age of Aquarius. This is "home sweet home" to this sign, ruled by the forward-thinking planet, Uranus. Always avant garde, the mental energy of Aquarius leaped right into the World Wide Web right from the start. The Net allows the Aquarian to be an individual, as well as a unique part of cybersociety - all at the same time.

Since the Internet is still very frontier-like, Aquarians fell quite comfortable in this anti-authoritarian atmosphere. The Internet is also a very egalitarian place for any surfer, and this is important to Aquarius...we are all equal here.

Always looking for the unusual and something different, the Aquarian will be all over the Web, looking for the next new thing to come along - maybe even starting it!

Sites that look to the future and have a humanistic approach will sooth the Aquarian soul. Here are a few websites that are conducive to their progressive nature:

What a wonderful, informative thread about the Water Bearer. Very interesting. As an Aquarian, I think we are the most misunderstood of all zodiacal types. We are deep thinkers, independent in thought, mentality, and expression. Friendship is our ultimate. Personally, I seem to consider everyone with whom I come into contact, my Friend. I share birthdays with Michael Jordan and Jim Brown, (Feb. 17); my sun is in Aquarius; moon is in Taurus; Mercury and Venus both in Pisces. This explains my love of writing, poetry, and beauty in everything. Thanks for this thread. I love it!

Many people think that Aquarius is a water sign because the symbol for Aquarius is called "The Water Bearer." However, Aquarius is an air sign...(Libra and Gemini are the other two). The water in the urn the bearer is carrying represents knowledge, and it is the duty of the Aquarian to pour (i.e., spread) knowledge, wisdom and overstanding...

"When the Moon is in the Seventh House,
And Jupiter aligns with Mars...
Then peace will guide the planets,
And love will steer the stars...
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius..."

We are nearing the end of the Piscean Age (ca 488-2648 AD) and about to enter the dawning of the Aquarian Age (ca 2648-4808 AD). This order (Pisces preceding Aquarius) appears to be the reverse of the familiar order of the signs of the zodiac. This is because the Earth happens to "wobble" or precess in a way which moves its axis of rotation in a very slow circle that makes the constellations appear to drift in the opposite direction relative to the Earth.

An astronomical age of about 2160 years is the time it takes for the Earth's axis to move one-twelfth of the way around in this circular motion, and the effect of this motion is called "The Precession of the Equinoxes." It can be marked by the sign the Sun appears in at the Vernal Equinox, the first day of Spring. In our century, it is the constellation of Pisces which rises with the Sun at the Vernal Equinox, which means we are still in the Age of Pisces. The actual Age of Aquarius is still a century or so in the future for us.

Knowledge is fast becoming accessible to all alike, and those who are drinking at its fount are proudly expressing themselves in music, literature, art, computer science, space technology, and other advanced fields of learning and culture. Today’s music reflects the changing times. We are nearing the end of the Piscean Age and about to enter the dawning of the Aquarian Age. The music of the Piscean Age reflects much emotionalism (Pisces is the sign of emotion), whereas music in the Aquarian Age will be highly mental, because Aquarius is an intellectual air sign...

The most important priority for the Aquarian-Age human being is knowledge of self. The greater the knowledge of self, the greater the consciousness of the potential energies available to us. By becoming aware of these energies we create the necessary conditions for our evolutionary advancement. Those in power in both government and the scientific world will have to undergo the most profound changes in their individual lives so that they may be able to deal with the increasingly complex situations that are to arise.

We cannot predict the infinite heights to which the Aquarian vibrations will eventually lead us; but on the other hand, these forces which are being released, if not used constructively, will surely lead us onto the evil path of witchcraft, sorcery, and final annihilation...

The power that is to be released soon in the form of new energy sources must be properly channeled and grounded if it is to be beneficial to the human race. The reorientation in the use and concept of solar energy currently taking place is conditioning man to the developing consciousness of the Aquarian Age global community, which will gradually come to inhabit our planet...

You're not half anything...you're an Aquarian...period. In the symbol the water represents knowledge, and it is the duty of the Aquarian to spread it all over...

Btw, you share your birthdate with several famous people...Bob Marley, Natalie Cole, and Ronald Reagan...

(I would need your date, time and place of birth to construct a natal chart for you.)

You must've meant 2/6/'74...instead of 2/26/'74. You are an Aquarian with the Moon in Leo, and Gemini is your rising sign...

Only two of the celestial bodies were in the earth signs at the time of your birth...Venus is Capricorn and Mars in Taurus. Only one was in a water sign - Mercury in Pisces. The other 7 celestial bodies were in the air and fire signs...

Aqil, I was reading the interesting profile you gave on Aquarius, and it is good to see the information that I can relate to! I really enjoyed the article. My birthday is on January 25, and as of right now the only famous African American that shares my birhtday that I am familiar with is Alicia Keys. I was wondering, if it is not to much trouble, could you do my natal chart? I was born at 10:40am in Memphis, Tn. I am glad to see someone else who appreciates the zodiac and gives it it's do respects. It really gets me how people who have never even tried to understand it can write it off as "foolishness" and "evil". I have been researching it for years, and I hope to one day become much better at it than I am now. Another good author on the subject is Thelma Balfour, might want to check her out. Anyway, thankyou in advance. Peace and blessings...

By the way, what is your sign?

My year of birth is 1984. Hmmm...so you are a capricorn. Very hardworking, sweet people, determined for excellence and very disciplined and patient, always setting high standards for themselves and others. So far, just from reading these and many other of your articles and responses, I can see you posess many of the traits of your sign, especially the sweet tempemeant, patience, and one can see you have high standards and a strive for excellence in the perfected detail you put into your articles. I should have recognized it, but I am just beginning to get a real niche for it. I read the article about Susanna. That was a very intriguing parable. Sushaunna is an Ethiopian name meaning princess and Goddess of men. One of friends gave me the title of princess, and I thought that it fit me. And, by seeing the parable, I can see how the name Sushaunna fits me even more. She was corageous and steadfast in her belief, and throughout the whole story carried herself as a princess, not bowing down in the face of danger. Also, do you believe in color therapy in conjunction with your astrological sign. I recently started reading a book on that. It s pretty interesting. Anyway, I am sorry for rambling so much. Once again, Thank you in advance.

You're welcome, Sushauanna...

I have recreated the Heavens for your exact moment of your birth and your nativity shows that your were born with the Sun in Aquarius, the Moon in Scorpio, and your time of birth gives you Aries rising. In other words, you are an Aquarian with a Scorpio personality who sees the world through the eyes of an Aries...

Upon casual orientation we see that you have a very unusual horoscope, which indicates that you are an unusual person. First of all, the Sun was the only celestial body in an air sign at the time of your birth. Seven of the ten celestial bodies in the solar system were in the earth and water signs (Capricorn/Taurus/ Virgo; Cancer/Scorpio/Pisces), thus you are more of an earth and water person...even though you are an Aquarian, which is an air sign...

All ten celestial bodies were above the horizon at the time of your birth. This indicates that you are a goal-oriented person, and very objective in your thinking. You have two powerful stelliums (a grouping of three or more planets in a particular sign or degree of longitude in the Heavens) in your horoscope. One is in the 7th house of marriage, intimate relationships, business partnerships and open enemies; the other stellium is in the 9th house of the higher mind, religion, philosophy, higher education and long journeys...

Nine of the ten celestial bodies were in what is called the third quadrant of the Heavens (houses 7-9). This indicates self-development through and social interaction. This emphasis will concentrate a great deal of your attention on relationships through social expansion, a regeneration of energies, and intellectual and/or spiritual growth...

You were born during the Sun’s transit of the fixed air sign Aquarius, which is ruled by Uranus, the planet of eccentricity and change. The symbol for this sign is the "Water Bearer," depicted as a man pouring out the life force and spiritual energy of knowledge, wisdom and understanding to mankind, which the water in his urn represents. But Aquarius is an air sign; the water does not represent emotion, but truth...

Your basic nature presents an interesting dichotomy: you are the epitome of individualism and the humanitarian of the zodiac. You are an idealistic person with strong likes and dislikes. You will not be bullied or driven by anyone, and you cherish your freedom and independence almost as much as a Sagittarian. Aquarius is a fixed sign, thus you are stubborn, determined, and you have an eccentric temperament. However, friends and companions are extremely important to you...

You are probably a progressive thinker and a humanitarian whose Aquarian originality causes you to have advanced (and sometimes radical) views. In expounding some of these views, you might be looked upon as eccentric. You are usually quiet, patient, and easy to meet. Even so, you are cautious, intelligent, thoughtful, studious and philosophical. You tend to view the world with a detached attitude and an unconventional frame of mind. However, you always identify with progressive movements, and you firmly believe in the brotherhood of mankind.

Although you have excellent reasoning ability, you are also very intuitive. Others see you as refined, pleasant and generous, with many male friends. You are inclined to be scientific, unpredictable, and a lover of the curious and the unusual. You are honest, sincere, and usually cheerful, which makes you slow to anger but difficult to appease. Your fertile mental qualities suit you best for group work of a reformative nature rather than endeavors involving personal factors.

In a love relationship, you are influenced mostly by kindness. However, your dispassionate independent nature creates the appearance of complete emotional detachment from your mate.

The key phrase for Aquarius is “I know.”

Aqil

The Moon was in the fixed water sign Scorpio at the time of your birth, Sushauanna. The Moon is in its "fall" in Scorpio (meaning its influences are weakest in this sign) because Scorpio is opposite Taurus, the sign in which the Moon is exalted. Thus this is the least favorable position for the Moon, because the aggressive nature of Scorpio does not blend well with the calm, imaginative influences of the Moon...

Your emotions are extremely intense, and often based on willful desire. You are impatient, moody, and even given to brooding. You are easily hurt, and you can become jealous, extremely revengeful, and hold grudges. You often judge others too quickly, and you feel a need to dominate through subtle means. You will not tolerate opposition to (or interference with) your goals, but often you will sacrifice a great deal for kindness...

You have executive ability and you are resourceful and enterprising. Although abrupt and impulsive, you have self-confidence and the ability to attain success. You usually get what you want or whatever you go after; however, many times you might find that you have achieved a hollow victory...

Since you are so jealous, proud and possessive, this position of the Moon does not promise a harmonious intimate relationship. Being extremely secretive, you need an intuitive mate who can sense your moods. And an afflicted Moon in Scorpio may indicate promiscuity, self-indulgence, and family problems...

The wish to dominate is often reflected in relationships with your children. This may be the result of your parent’s domination, or of your over-idealization of a parent, usually the mother. With this lunar position a mother can be overly possessive, and she may have trouble freeing her child – especially a male child...

You become emotionally intent on completing and enjoying any project you have adopted, and you can seem lacking in sympathy when so absorbed. Your personality is deep, and you have shrewd insight into other people. Very often you enjoy probing into the deep mysteries of life and the abysses of the unknown.

You regard the senses as instruments of pleasure rather than knowledge, responding intensely and passionately to life, especially the sensual, pleasurable aspects of its physical side. Your ability to observe is unlimited; your willpower is often latent, but when you use it, it is often for the betterment of humanity. You must learn to handle your strong, deep feelings. Since your senses are so important, you should pay strict attention to them. An afflicted Moon in Scorpio can also lead to sexual excess, inhibition, perversion or alcoholism...

The key phrase for Scorpio is “I want.”

The Ascendant (rising sign) in your horoscope (the Creator’s plan for your development) is utilized primordially as a third and very important factor that complements the psychological information given by the Sun and Moon. Figuratively speaking, it is the geometrical base that encloses the human triangle where its sides are represented by the individuality (the Sun) and the personality (the Moon).

At the time of your birth the fire sign Aries was ascending on the eastern horizon. This cardinal fire sign on the Ascendant shows that you’re somewhat of a pioneer. You have strong likes and dislikes, and you’re usually courageous and adventurous. You tend to have outbursts of anger or irritation, but you rarely hold a grudge for long. There is something of the iconoclast about – a tendency to tear down existing practices and institutions…to crusade for newer and better ways (or at least your version of such improvements).

You are inclined to try to force your opinions on others – rather that use the gentle art of persuasion. You’re enthusiastic and generally progressive in whatever you happen to be pursuing – as long as the idea lasts…

Although you frequently change your opinions, you’re extremely certain of whatever you happen to believe…at the moment. At some point in your life your pursuit of a high office or an executive position will tax all of your willpower and courage. You’re so passionately opinionated that many people regard your expressions as being violent.

If you ever have any legal with money or property, there will almost certainly females involved. People with Aries rising often lose their fathers at an early age. This doesn’t necessarily mean by death, but in one way or another the father leaves no provision for the care and welfare of his children.

You’ll travel quite extensively, either for business or else to avoid trouble. Chances are you’ll change your residence frequently, and you may become successful in an area other than your birthplace. You typify the old cliché, “Marrying in haste and repenting in leisure.”

One way or another you’re a true pioneer – a climber of every kind of obstacle fate puts in your path. There is a kind of martyr complex associated with Aries, however. When the Sun, which is exalted in this sign, is afflicted (i.e., adversely aspected by other planets), people with Aries rising can cause injury to themselves.

Mars is the planetary ruler of Aries, and the key phrase for this sign is “I am.”

This astrological combination-produces an individual who is extremely lovable, kind, sympathetic and generous. You are extremely zealous in upholding religious ideals, and you possess a devotion almost amounting to worship in your intimate relationships. Your love nature is strong, and unless your emotions are kept under control, it may lead to promiscuity.

The Sun in Aquarius-Moon in Leo polarity confers great organizing ability, and favors leadership in philanthropic and religious organizations. Aquarius and Leo are considered the business signs of the zodiac, and although these people are absolutely dependable and loyal, they often fail in business due to their extremely tenderhearted nature. Unwise extension of credit would be one of the reasons.

In matters pertaining to your health, this Sun-Moon polarity indicates the liability to nervous dyspepsia, palpitation of the heart, and other cardiovascular troubles. It also indicates poor circulation and problems with the ankles. Total abstinence from all animal flesh as food is seriously recommended...

The opposition between the Sun and the Moon in your horoscope shows that there are difficulties between you and the people you deal with. There is a natural conflict between your ego and your emotions, and you unconsciously communicate this psychological hang-up to your family, friends, and even your romantic interests. You often act in a hesitant spurt of enthusiasm, which is followed by the anguish that your actions may have been ill-advised. When you try to assert your own individuality, you are often torn by your loyalty to those closest to you. You would prefer to have their full support so you could avoid the painful explanations and guilt that seems to accompany anything you want to do...

Relationships mean a great deal to you, and you long for someone whom you can totally identify with. Although you enjoy casual contacts, they never sufficiently satisfy your need to belong. You desire a mate who will fulfill your every need - love, friendship, sustaining you in your goals, sharing in your setbacks, strengthening you in your moments of weakness, inspiring you to exploit your creative talents, and, at the same time, sharing the full benefits of your combined efforts. A tall order, to be sure, and you will have to make concessions in order to attract that kind of mate. You will have to be more giving than receiving, more compromising than obstinate, and more humble than arrogant. This too may be a tall order, but you can do it or at least give it a good try. Any progress will prove beneficial...

Your greatest handicap is your unwillingness to let go of the past. Don't worry that people will consider you indifferent and unfeeling - you could never be unemotional. Make a realistic appraisal of what you want from your life and file a plan with yourself to achieve it. Don't wait for people to open doors for you. Some things you must do for yourself, even if it means having to indulge in yourself...

You will experience some problems with partnerships until you know where you stand and can state your position honestly. You might feel sorry for yourself or become bitter when matters do not progress exactly the way you want them to, but that's life. The hard knocks are what make the success that follows so precious. Try to maintain a moderate physical pace; you cannot burn the candle at both ends without endangering your health...

Peace.

Peace.

aqil,
wow, thank you. something i've been struggling with is letting go of the past and moving on. i tend to hang on to things longer than necessary. if i'm reading the first paragraph correctly, another struggle is asserting my indiviuality regardless of what others think. you've definitely given me something to think about. thank you

hello everyone!! I need a question answered. last year i had my astrological chart done and she said that my sun and moon are in aquarius and my rising sign is capricorn. recently i went to two websites where they can do a chart for you and they said my sun and moon was in aquarius and my rising sign is in pisces. The rising sign in pisces makes so much sense than capricorn. Is i possible she could be wrong because her program is about 10 years old.
what is sidereal astrology? Thank you.

You're welcome, Khasm. I have re-created the Heavens for the exact moment of your birth and your nativity shows that you were born with the Sun in Aquarius, the Moon in Sagittarius, and your time of birth gives you Capricorn rising. In other words, you are an Aquarian with a Sagittarian personality who seew the world through the eyes of a Capricorn. Here are the planetary delineations:

Khasm13
February 10, 1972
4:14 AM (CST)
Chicago, IL

Your natal Sun is 20 degrees Aquarius.
You get bored with the status quo and are generally open to new things and ideas. An individualist and a free spirit, your friends are quite important to you as long as they do not try to tie you down by making too many emotional demands on you. Your thoughts are offbeat and you're a bit eccentric, but not always very changeable. As a matter of fact, you can be quite stubborn at times. Very fair-minded when dealing with large groups or broad issues, you are not always emotionally sensitive to the needs of individuals. Extremely objective, and with good powers of observation, you would be qualified to study technical and complicated subjects, like science, computers or maybe even astrology.

Your natal Moon is 23 degrees Sagittarius.
An idealist, you prefer the grand, the beautiful, the good and the noble. You get very disappointed when your high expectations in life are not met. Very curious by nature, you enjoy traveling and learning about other peoples and cultures. Try to avoid your tendency to ignore the small but important details of living. You are independent and free, and you want others to be that way, too. Optimistic, buoyant and cheerful, others like to have you around. You have an incessant desire to learn as much as possible about metaphysics, religion, philosophy and any other broad, deep subject. Your life tends to be punctuated by bursts of energy and frenetic activity.

Mercury is 15 degrees Aquarius.
Mercury is the planet of the mind, and it is exalted in Aquarius. This indicates that you are highly intellectual...but you tend to be very opinionated. You have strongly felt notions about things and are quite vocal about expressing and defending them. Yet you are also an original thinker - you enjoy shocking others with your offbeat, original thoughts. You appreciate and need mental and intellectual stimulation. Your judgment is usually fair and impartial - you can be a good critic because you can remain objective and unemotional about most things.

Venus is 0 degrees Aries.
You are a very affectionate person but you hate to be tied down. You are more than willing to be the aggressor in initiating new relationships. Indeed, once you have set your sights on someone, you tend to pursue him or her ardently and passionately. But you do demand your own way in a relationship. Try to give in to your partner's needs and desires once in a while.

Mars is 29 degrees Aries.
You are very independent and self-assertive, and you have lots of physical energy. You are not satisfied unless you can be the first to do something. As such, you are more comfortable in leadership positions than you are as an underling. When you are challenged by anyone for anything, you delight in the competitive process and will fight long and hard for your beliefs. You are bold and courageous and often act without thinking. At times, in your zeal to get ahead, you are tactless and offensive - learn that cooperation with others can often bring you nearer to your goals quicker because of the support you will get.

Jupiter is 0 degrees Capricorn.
You tend to feel that the only results that are worthwhile are the results that are concrete and demonstrable. You distrust abstract solutions and appreciate measurable achievements. An excellent organizer and planner, you are optimistic as well as practical and realistic about what can and what cannot happen. Very responsible, you consider it a personal weakness to be wrong about anything. This makes you appropriately cautious. You are very efficient but you tend to be cool and detached.

Saturn, your life ruler, is 29 degrees Taurus.
Complete freedom of choice makes you ill at ease. You must have a firm, ordered, secure foundation in your life in order to feel comfortable. You do not adapt easily and tend to fear the new and untried. You constantly fear that you do not have enough (love, property, material things, etc.) and this makes you tend toward being selfish, withdrawn and stingy. If you try to surround yourself with supportive people in your environment, you will become more emotionally self-supporting.

Uranus, your ruling planet, is 18 degrees Libra.
You, as well as your entire peer group, have a very free, unstable and unconventional approach to relationships and emotional commitments. You will be attracted to experiments in marriage and shared lifestyles. Personal freedom is more important to you than entangling emotional bonds. In the realm of art and aesthetics, you are attracted to the bizarre, shocking and unusual.

Neptune is 5 degrees Sagittarius.
You and your entire generation are heavily involved in investigating and idealizing foreign and exotic intellectual systems and religious philosophies. The most extreme ideals will be pursued with gusto. You will be at the forefront of humanitarian attempts to improve the lot of those who are in need of assistance. You will be comfortable with the concept of the "global village."

Pluto is 1 degree Libra.
For your entire generation this is a time of radical changes in society's attitude toward marriage and interpersonal relationships. There is a general fear and awe at the power inherent in making emotional or contractual commitments - they will not be entered into lightly.

The Moon's North Node is 5 degrees Aquarius.
As long as someone else (or a group or organization) appeals to your intellectual sensibilities, you'll try to ally yourself with them in some way. You may find that you always seem to get involved with many wide-ranging groups - so much so that you find it difficult to fit them all into your busy schedule. Your many friends and acquaintances provide you with needed stimulation. You're loyal and fair-minded...you try to spend time equally with all your friends, never concentrating on just one or two for any length of time. Although probably quite conservative yourself, you're attracted to those who are a bit offbeat or eccentric - you enjoy watching their minds work.

You were born during the Sun’s transit of the fixed air sign Aquarius, Khasm, which is ruled by Uranus, the planet of eccentricity and change. The symbol for this sign is the Water Bearer, depicted as a man pouring out the life force and spiritual energy of knowledge, wisdom and understanding to mankind, which the water in his urn represents. But Aquarius is an air sign; the water does not represent emotion, but truth.

However, friends and companions are extremely important to you.

Others see you as refined, pleasant and generous, with many friends among the opposite sex.

The key phrase for this sign is, “I know.”

The Moon was in the mutable fire sign Sagittarius at the time of your birth, and this lunar position shows that you are socially naive and blissfully unaware of real human differences. With the Moon in Sagittarius you react to others as if they were part of you; you tend to merge and melt into them.

You need and want to do everything with everybody, and you are an open and extremely friendly person. You have a keen, prophetic, inspirational sense; you are restless, always searching, and you often lack continuity. Your sense impressions are clear and more accurate than most other signs, thus your judgment is acute. But you should learn to think before you speak.

Your mind resents confusion, and it will reject anything irrelevant to the issue at hand. When you do focus, it is on one thing only – to the point of your seeming to have a one-track mind. You are unsettled in both mind and body, thus you need activity and physical exercise. You have an innate need to roam, and you are extremely fond of sports, both as a participant and observer. Sagittarius is the sign of the athlete, and many professional dancers are born under this sign.

You have strong psychic and occult tendencies, and you are more sensitive than your free and breezy attitude reveals. You are a natural teacher, with a talent for religion, philosophy, poetry and music. You like to help others. You also have an extremely high degree of independence and an innate need for freedom. You are daring and must counteract carelessness and recklessness with tact and thoughtfulness.

Because of the nature of this sign (Sagittarius is the sign of the wanderer), a late marriage or bachelorhood is indicated...

Jupiter is the planetary ruler of Sagittarius, and the key phrase for this sign is “I see.”

The Ascendant (or rising sign) in a horoscope (the Creator’s plan for human development) is utilized primordially as a third and very important factor that complements the psychological information given by the combined positions of the Sun and Moon. Figuratively speaking, the Ascendant is the geometrical base that encloses the human triangle where its sides are represented by the individuality (the Sun) and the personality (The Moon).

At the time of your birth the cardinal earth sign Capricorn was ascending on the eastern horizon. The sign Capricorn denotes an existence in which the temperament is very important. You will give an image of ambition, persistence, willpower, consistency, and perseverance. You were born with the tendency to seek material, social, and perhaps even political power. Much of your destiny, however, will be conditioned by the development of your moral principles, and by the ability to organize, direct, and overcome obstacles.

Capricorn rising indicates a life full of difficulties which force you to exert all your resources in order to triumph. Temperamentally you will appear as firm, resolute, and anxious to obtain success. Capricorns are usually given positions of responsibility as their age increases. Because of your tact and prudence, you will be favored with the goodwill of important people. You are ambitious, rational, persistent, and inclined toward orthodoxy. Because of your egocentric, rational mind you are not inclined toward subjective and sentimental issues. And you are skeptical by nature.

You may be criticized because of your rather selfish manners. You are very economical in your daily activities, and if you don't exercise some control over this trait, you could appear as rather mean. Your profound sense of responsibility could be exaggerated to the extreme of authoritarianism. You should be in environments where you can work within routine patterns. Time has an important place in your life; you do things in chronological order. Professionally your best choices are: civil service, mathematics, real estate, archeology, or politics. The key word for your professional orientation is: RESPONSIBILITY.
You are cautious, responsible and practical, and because you are able to work hard, you will bear obstacles and frustrations with patience. Although you give the impression of weakness, there is an extremely strong psychological core that can confront any crisis. You will proceed with prudence in your love life and all other activities. You will seriously consider all ramifications of marriage, especially the aspect of your personal independence, and you will not marry until you are totally sure of your choice. After marriage, however, there is a tendency to conduct a quiet, peaceful life.

In matters pertaining to your health, the sign Capricorn stresses the bone structure. In childhood you had the tendency to falls and accidents involving the bones, which, in fact, received most of the impact. As the years go by, however, your nervous system and osteal structure become much stronger.

The key phrase for this sign is, “I use.”

You were born with the earth sign Capricorn on the Ascendant and the air sign Libra on the Midheaven (i.e., the cusp of the 10th house, the highest point in a natal chart). This is an unusual combination in that your personality dictates austerity and frugality, while you constantly strive to achieve a state of friendliness and social poise.

The Libra influence indicates easiness in forming relationships. The planet Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, is exalted in Libra, the sign of relationships, and the influences of this planet cause you to be naturally distrustful at first of forming close attachments. Thus you are faced with situations in which you must reconcile external aloofness with your preference for harmonious relationships.

The familiar adage, “Cold hands, warm heart” may be applied to people born with this particular pattern in their horoscopes. You would do well in occupations dealing with the arts, but those requiring a practical ability to deal with the important business and fiscal responsibilities. Theatrical agents are good examples of this combination.

In unusual circumstances you may manifest a lack of your usual systematic thoroughness in dealing with material considerations. From self-sufficiency your nature will swing toward a misplaced trust in people. Too great a dependency upon the decisions of others and too little emphasis upon your own judgmental faculties may involve you in difficult situations not of your own making throughout your life.

As aforementioned, in Chinese astrology this is the year of the Rooster, i.e., the Perfectionist Rooster...the "I can do better" inspirer. If you were born in 1945, 1957, 1969 or 1981, then you are a Rooster in Chinese astrology. In 2005, your energy level rises. Rooster souls are offered large projects, contracts and management positions. Don't hesitate to declare your love for that special someone this year. You will find the necessary words to convince them of your devotion and a marriage proposal could be accepted immediately.

If you want to change career or company, 2005 is definitely favorable to take the necessary steps. Do not neglect even a small cut or scrape; as there could be an increased risk of infection at this time. A brief dip in good fortune during September and October will require tireless Roosters to devote more time to everything, and exhaustion from overwork may take its toll. Roosters find themselves crying metaphorically: "Who will help me make this bread?" Remember to balance your life, time and workload with sufficient rest. Changes will take place in your life during this year which will set the stage for future progress...

(Roosters correspond with the sign Virgo in mundane astrology.)

The Chinese Lunar New Year is the longest chronological record in history, dating from 2600 BC, when the Emperor Huang Ti introduced the first cycle of the zodiac. Like the Western calendar, the Chinese lunar calendar is a yearly one, with the start of the lunar year being based on the cycles of the Moon. Therefore, because of this cyclical dating, the beginning of the year can fall anywhere between late January and the middle of February. This year it falls on February 9th. A complete cycle takes 60 years and is made up of five cycles of 12 years each.

The Chinese lunar calendar names each of the 12 years after an animal. Legend has it that the Lord Buddha summoned all the animals to come to him before he departed from Earth. Only 12 came to bid him farewell and as a reward he named a year after each one in the order they arrived. The Chinese believe the animal ruling the year in which a person is born has a profound influence on their personality, saying: "This is the animal that hides in your heart." Check out the following table:

Rat: 1936 1948 1960 1972 1984 1996

Ox: 1937 1949 1961 1973 1985 1997

Tiger: 1938 1950 1962 1974 1986 1998

Rabbit: 1939 1951 1963 1975 1987 1999 (also called "Cat")

Dragon: 1940 1952 1964 1976 1988 2000

Snake: 1941 1953 1965 1977 1989 2001

Horse: 1942 1954 1966 1978 1990 2002

Sheep: 1943 1955 1967 1979 1991 2003 (also called "Goat")

Monkey: 1944 1956 1968 1980 1992 2004

Rooster: 1945 1957 1969 1981 1993 2005

Dog: 1946 1958 1970 1982 1994 2006

You're welcome, pdiane. I have re-created the Heavens for the exact moment of your birth and your nativity shows that you were born with the Sun in Aquarius, the Moon in Aries, and your time of birth gives you Pisces rising. In other words, you are an Aquarian with an Aries personality, who sees the world through the eyes of a Pisces. Here are the planetary delineations:

pdiane
February 9, 1951
8:00 AM (EST)
Boston, MA

Your natal Sun is 19 degrees Aquarius.
You get bored with the status quo, and you are generally open to new things and ideas. Extremely objective, with good powers of observation, you would be qualified to study technical and complicated subjects, like science, computers, or maybe even astrology.

Your natal Moon is 0 degrees Aries.
High-spirited and courageous, you are a fighter when your emotions are aroused. The degree of force and drive that you can bring to any effort sometimes surprises others. You have hair-trigger reactions to specific stimuli and tend to "let it all hang out." You sometimes act before you think and do things at the spur of the moment, and that sometimes gets you into trouble. Your moods change quickly...you have quite a temper, but you don't hold grudges. Very independent, with an extremely strong and forceful personality, you are known for being impulsive, careless, reckless, foolhardy, rash and daring.

Your Ascendant (rising sign) is 17 degrees Pisces.
Very sensitive to your surroundings, other people's feelings become your very own. Try to avoid negative people because your tendency to empathize with them will make you negative also. An idealist, you must believe in something beyond your normal everyday existence. A dreamer, you like to escape to a world of your own creation. As such, you are known for the vividness of your imagination, and you should try to share your inner visions with others. Very self-sacrificial by nature, beware of others becoming overly dependent on you, or vice versa. Allow yourself to live for yourself once in a while...you deserve it. Don't be so envious of those who are more aggressive than you...your gentle charity and true humility are indeed wonderful gifts.

Mercury is 29 degrees Capricorn.
You are a careful thinker...very cautious and conservative. You are quite skillful at organizing, directing and planning activities. Practical and useful things interest you, and you are not attracted to abstract thoughts or ideas. With your tendency to be highly focused and very goal-oriented, you have a good head for business. But beware of a tendency to be narrow-minded and dogmatic. Your sense of humor tends toward being earthy and slapstick crude.

Venus is 10 degrees Pisces.
You have a dreamy, fanciful, romantic nature and a very creative imagination. Indeed, at times, your private fantasies are more appealing than the reality around you and it is difficult for you to leave them. You tend to be unselfish and giving in relationships and are extremely sensitive of the needs of others. Be very sure that those you help are worthy of your devotion and are not merely taking advantage of your innocence and naivete.

Mars is 14 degrees Pisces.
Very sensitive and vulnerable, it is difficult for you to assert yourself. At times, you feel quite tired and you will require a lot of sleep in order to maintain your health and your strength. You are at your best when you act without your ego being important. You can be very unselfish and considerate of the needs of others. You get the most satisfaction by giving to others when you expect nothing in return. Beware of a tendency to want always to work behind the scenes or to become overly deceptive by doing things behind others' backs.

Jupiter is 13 degrees Pisces.
You are at your best when you give of yourself and what you have...try to avoid being a martyr about it, though. You're a true idealist, but you must learn not to be upset when life does not cooperate with the way you think things should be. Very concerned with spiritual truth and growth, when you practice what you preach, you make an excellent role model for others. You are so devoted to altruistic ventures and concerns that you tire easily at times. It then becomes necessary for you to go off by yourself to recharge your batteries.

Saturn is 1 degree Libra.
Although you take quite a while to make decisions, you usually consider all sides of a question - all the pros and cons - and the solution you come up with is very often the correct one. You tend to be very reserved and shy, but, once you make a commitment to someone (in either a business or personal relationship), the partnership is forever. You have a strong sense of justice and fair play and greatly respect the laws and institutions by which you are governed. As such, you are appalled when others break laws or show contempt for authority.

Uranus, your ruling planet, is 5 degrees Cancer.
For you - and for your peers as well - the demand to be free from entangling emotional bonds is of paramount importance. You have a unique and unfettered view of family life and will be attracted to experimenting with free-form styles of relationship commitments. However, this may lead to a rootless, unsettled lifestyle.

Neptune, your life ruler, is 19 degrees Libra.
You and your entire generation idealize all of the various experimental approaches to relationships, including living together, the formation of communes and collectives, and the whole concept of "open" marriages. There is a stress on weakened commitments on an emotional and contractual level, but there are heightened expectations of the level of commitment and mutual support on the spiritual and metaphysical level.

Pluto is 18 degrees Leo.
For your entire generation this is a time when the relationship of the individual to society as a whole is being thoroughly re-examined. Major attempts will be made to find a balance between the need to be self-sufficient and the need to honor debts of social commitment.

The Moon's North Node is 19 degrees Pisces.
You are attracted to others who need your assistance. You seem to go out of your way to form relationships with those who are weak, sick, injured, addicted, or troubled in some way. At your best you can indeed provide the relief that others need. But at times you can be victimized by those who would prey on your good nature and take advantage of you. This can lead to all sorts of negative situations...make sure that those you assist are truly worthy of your time, energy and commitment. A little enlightened self-protectiveness on your part can make your life work much, much smoother!

You were born during the Sun’s transit of the fixed air sign Aquarius, pdiane, which is ruled by Uranus, the planet of eccentricity and change. The symbol for this sign is "The Water Bearer," depicted as a man pouring out the life-force and spiritual energy of knowledge, wisdom and understanding to mankind, which the water in his urn represents. But Aquarius is an air sign; the water does not represent emotion, but truth.

However, friends and companions are extremely important to you.

Others see you as refined, pleasant and generous, with many friends among the opposite sex. You are inclined to be scientific, unpredictable, and a lover of the curious and the unusual. You are honest, sincere, and usually cheerful, which makes you slow to anger - but difficult to appease.

Your natal Moon was in the cardinal fire sign Aries at the time of your birth, thus you respond to life as if it were an adventure, and you are open to new ideas. You relate to experience as a means for self-realization. You have much natural and sincere enthusiasm, but you must constantly and consciously work to develop patience. You flare up quickly, but you soon forget the cause of your outburst.

You often assert your “me first” tendencies; your quick (albeit changeable) mind is brilliant and acute. Your temper is uneven, i.e., quick and hot, and you are susceptible to nervousness and migraine headaches.

Your mental impressions and reactions are very quick. You trust your sense perceptions, and you are inclined to act immediately without reflection. You jump into action from quick feelings rather than from reason. You are not methodical; you resent authority, and you do not like advice.

Your independent nature can make you courageous to the point of foolhardiness. When you are interested, you are very warm; when you are not inwardly stirred, you are impersonal. You feel with your ego.

You seem to be emotionally detached from the people around you. Your feelings are acute and sharp, and you often use them as a conscious instrument for your own benefit. You hide a sense of insecurity behind an aggressive exterior; you should develop the ability to ask for help when you need it.

You are ambitious and pioneering; you live and gain by fits and starts. You dislike detail and you find discipline hard to accept. You need to cultivate perseverance. Your senses are well developed, especially your sight, and others are impressed by your dynamic, self-reliant attitude.

You excel in positions where quick decisions are vital. You are changeable in your enthusiasm; you have great originality, inventiveness and restlessness, but you do not have much persistence. You take the initiative in many activities, and you show excessive confidence as well as insufficient forethought. You try to dominate others emotionally, and you usually gain authority because you are a better leader than follower.

Mars is the planetary ruler of Aries, and the key phrase for this sign is “I am.”

The Ascendant (rising sign) in the horoscope (the Creator's plan for human development) is utilized primordially as a third and very important factor that complements the psychological information given by the combined positions of the Sun and Moon. Figuratively speaking, it is the geometrical base that encloses the human triangle where its sides are represented by the individuality (the Sun) and the personality (the Moon).

At the time of your birth the sign Pisces was ascending on the eastern horizon. This indicates that you are easily moved, romantic, imaginative, and impressionable. Your mind is restless – constantly seeking new ideas for the expression of your creative talents. You are changeable and can exercise whatever authority you may have with firmness – yet pleasantly. You can succeed through your own efforts in science, literature, or the arts. In fact, there is a good chance that you will achieve celebrity status in your field. Still, you are tortured by excessive worry and fanciful notions. Although generous by nature, you tend to pursue pleasure to a point where it might be injurious to others. Your chief ambition seems to be that of enjoying yourself and tasting the good things of life.

You are a good talker, with conversational ability that might rival the gift of eloquence. You are filled with good will and can easily put yourself in the other person’s position; in fact, you tend to suffer for the underdog. Conversely, you can remain emotionally aloof from two opposing ideals, and render a critical judgment of one or the other with neither bias nor prejudice. Anger doesn’t come easily to you, but once moved to wrath you are almost impossible to appease before wreaking some kind of vengeance, however slight.

You are passionate and impressionable; therefore you tend to appear vacillating. The pleasure of good company is very important, and you are socially successful because of your friendly, outgoing and cordial nature. You are always busy with one thing or another, and you could become successful in almost anything that interests you. You are broadminded, knowledgeable in many fields, and can probably pursue two occupations at once. Whatever material rewards you realize will be the result of your own hard work and effort, possibly through successful writing or in traveling. However, you will find that you also enjoy the affection and loyalty of friends and relatives, who are (fortunately) numerous. Most of your friends are in important positions and able to boost your career. There is the danger of the premature loss of a brother or sister, and your parents are not able to contribute much in the way of assistance to your future or well being.

Your children (and there will be several) will be much more fortunate, mostly engaged in work that takes them on extensive trips with frequent changes in residence. You may marry twice, because the first marriage might cause difficulty with relatives and in-laws. Paradoxically, one of your strongest enemies in life will turn out to be your staunchest friend. Pisces rising is fully capable of gaining honors, great public recognition, and considerable wealth...

Your natal Sun is 19 degrees Aquarius.
You get bored with the status quo, and you are generally open to new things and ideas.

Not necessarily, although Pisces and Scorpio are compatible signs. He might have the Moon in Aquarius or Aquarius rising. If he has Leo rising, then you are his natural mate...

Very informative. I am an Aquarian and would like to know were astrology came from.

Aqil

Astrology is the oldest science in the world, I-kahn. It had its origins in East Africa, in a country called Abyssinia, whose modern name is Ethiopia. It traveled to ancient Egypt, Chaldea and Babylonia, and was common practice among the Hindus of ancient India. It had its origins in the ancient worship of the Moon and its phases. Through the long nights before any history books were written, generations upon generations of ancient priest-astrologers sat and contemplated the wondrous and orderly procession of the seasons and the shining stars in the Heavens. Man soon gave them names, and the names were those of the animal spirits he worshiped.

In Mesopotamia, archeologists have unearthed clay tablets recording astrological events that are over sixty centuries old! Five thousand years ago the priest-astrologers predicted the flooding of the rivers by watching the starry Heavens and calculating the phases of the Moon. The Assyrian priests discovered the zodiac and its twelve divisions. They learned to calculate the irregular paths of the major planets and predicted eclipses. Astrologers of the ancient world were the Chaldean Wise Men (called “Magi”) who were the first mathematicians, and who arranged the first calendars. These same astrologers were the founding fathers of the first universities, and they built the world’s first skyscrapers (called “ziggurats”) in order to observe the stars in the Heavens. And, according to explorer Marco Polo in his work Voyages, there were over five thousand astrologers living in the court of Kublai Khan, in medieval China.

The ancients discovered that each planet controlled the health of certain parts of the body, and they thought certain food plants grew best when planted during the Full Moon. William the Conqueror, Charlemagne, and the Crusaders all required the sanction of the stars. Wars, peace, treaties, coronations, marriages and operations - all these required a special horoscope. The poisoning Borgias cast horoscopes before giving arsenic to their enemies. Until just before the Spanish-American War, medicine depended on astrology. Herbs, plants and elixirs were all more potent when gathered or manufactured during the proper phase of the Moon.

During the late 19th century and the early years of the 20th century - prior to World War I - astrology fell into disrepute. The centuries of opposition by religion, philosophy and science drove it underground. Einstein’s works were in vogue! In World War II, astrology played an odd role in the management of this Great War. Hitler had a battery of astrologers, and planned his campaigns on the basis of their horoscopes. There was nothing for Roosevelt and Churchill to do but employ a special super-secret astrologer to tell them what the German astrologers were telling Hitler! Even so, the cynical scientific opinion was that astrology was nothing more than a form of witchcraft or mysticism. At best it was only accepted as a “pseudo-science.” Today, however, the climate is rapidly changing. There is evidence emerging which shows even the cynics that what goes on in the Heavens may have cause-and-effect connections with all of us here on planet Earth.

The Chinese New Year always begins at sunset on the day of the second New Moon after the Winter Solstice, which is Sunday, January 29th. This date corresponds to the first New Moon in Aquarius. This is the Chinese year 4703, and it is the year of the Dog. Other years of the Dog were 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982 and 1994...

People born in the Year of the Dog (i.e., 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982) possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and inspire other people's confidence because they know how to keep secrets. But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth; yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues. Dog people make good leaders. You are honest and faithful; you can worry too much, and you will make an excellent business person, teacher or secret agent.

1989 was the year of the Snake, as was 1977, 1965, and 1953. People born in the Year of the Snake are deep. They say little and possess great wisdom. They never have to worry about money; they are financially fortunate. Snake people are often quite vain, selfish, and a bit stingy. Yet they have tremendous sympathy for others and try to help those less fortunate. Snake people tend to overdo, since they have doubts about other people's judgment and prefer to rely on themselves. They are determined in whatever they do and hate to fail. Although calm on the surface, they are intense and passionate. Snake people are usually very attractive, and sometimes have marital problems because they are fickle. They are most compatible with the Ox and Rooster.

Hi, I am a proud Aquarian born 1/29/1966. I totally appreciate and agree with your interpretation of MY sign. I've noticed that this yr, I have been HIGHLY interested in my community and NEEDING an opportunity to make a difference. I plan to start school this fall. I am taking up Urban Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I've had these feeling for yrs, but I ignored them. This yr I decided to listen to myself.

In retrospect, I definitely found this information to be fairly accurate but it has yet to be determined how this "future progress" will manifest in the long run because there have been some major obstacles and impediments thus far since 2005, especially on the economic front. With all the bubbles bursting "balance" is definity an important objective in order to maintain one's sanity and to continue growing in a progressive manner.
