View Full Version : Black Poetry : This Is Not A Request Line

Don’t call me askin’ me to write some of that love ****!
Don’t interrupt my poetic flow askin’
for some shallow roses are red, violet’s are blue
you love and I love you ****!
Cause this is not a request line!

Don’t tell me you want to hear some silly birds and bees ****
while little girls are being abducted daily
and little boys molested sadly
by sick predators
scavenging our neighborhoods
and your *** want’s to be entertained.
Cause this is not a request line!

Don’t bother me with dumb *** cries for
humorous, shuckin’ & jivin’, slap-stick, stand-up comedy,
when every continent is at war
and nations are killing their own
for religious differences
and invisible no-fly zones
and borders on lands stained with
blood from trespassers, in there own minds.
Cause this is not a request line!

Don’t send me a request for
frivolous vanities and dreams of a perfect world
when the Ku Klux Klan and the New Black Panther Party
can march on our capitals
with messages of hate and separatism
and American democracy says
“it’s their rights under the law!”
This is not a **** request line!

I am taking no request
be cause my poetic soul
compels me to flip the this beast of society
and expose the underbelly we’d all like to ignore.
I have to show you depravity in the black community
precipitated by Democrats and Republicans.
I have to show you the racism that still exist in our churches
as we all go our separate ways on Sunday morning’s at eleven.
I cannot ignore the under-handed dealings of government
officials would dare not stop the illegal drug trade because
it would mean no more 6 bedroom mansions, yachts, and
Ferrari’s so the ghetto keeps suffering
with crack cocaine in its veins.
I refuse to be silent about the institutionalized racism
in the day to day operations of major corporations
where Negro’s still ain’t welcome in the board rooms and
the secret meeting where “keep the ni&&A’s in their place
is the modus operandi.
Corporate pimps, and government simps
racist minds and unchanging times.
Hated, racism, scisms, isms.
Africans killing.
Croation and Surbian genocide.
Christian Holy Wars and Islamic Jhiad.
The IRA and PLO.
The Taliban, Al Queda
and bloody revolutionists causing peoples the cry.
Do you hear the cries? Do you hear the cries?
The cries of billions of aborted babies.
The cries of billions of euthanasized seniors?
And you want to be entertained??
**** that! This is not a **** request line!
Open your **** ears to poetic truths!

I really liked what you had to say here and how you said it...but amidst all the chaos, destruction, sadness, pain and hurt, we have to make room for all the good things in life as well...if we don't it will consume us...so sometimes it is necessary to step into the sunshine for a little while...

WHEW!!!! I HEARD this one, Klabarron and it was awsome, great points and certainly a poetic voice speaking it OUT from under. I think you and Kitana are both right, we need both sides of the poetic spectrum as well as all the various voices out there. We need to be spending time on all sides of life as each allows us to see and feel the other. Without the bad times the good is just not as sweet. Uh, Oh, am I lecturing here? :(

ok RedLady here you go...

My Lover’s Smile

She smiled, drawing me into her most solitary dwelling
Brightest ray of sun, envies her glow
Beauty of the summer’s daises, succumbs to the fragrance
emitted in an instant
for she has smiled.

She smiled again, and i came to know her.
Full of life
Full of genuine, unconditional love
Touching my world without hand
she smiled

Again she smiled, atop my body prostrate
Sharing all of her in her smile
An all encompassing smirk of passion
Erases my cares
I dwell, as she smiles at me
In her ecstasy
In passion
And I loose me
For she
Has become my most solitary dwelling
And a simple smile
Invades my face
As she loves me
Like only she can.
With a simple smile.
