there was an engineer who had an exceptional gift for fixing all things mechanical. after serving his company loyally 4 over 30 years, he happily retired. several yrs later the company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible problem they were having w 1 of their multi million $ machines. they had tried everything & every1 else 2 get the machine fixed, but 2 no avail. n desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so many of their problems n the past.
the engineer reluctantly took the challenge. he spent a day studying the huge machine. at the end of the day, he marked a small "x" n chalk on a particular component of the machine & proudly stated,
"this is where ur problem is".
the part was replaced & the machine worked perfectly again. the company received a bill 4 $50,000 from the engineer 4 his service. they demanded an itemized accounting of his charges. the engineer responded briefly:
1 chalk mark $1
knowing where to put it $49,999
