Hello Everyone,

We have that really long thread, titled Cursing - Swearing - Expletives - Etc.! (http://destee.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6156) that lists deep within it our Banned Words and it shows how we grew into this list.

You are encouraged to read that thread if you'd like, but for the sake of clarity I'm listing those 9 banned words here ... just in case that's all you really want to know. They are:

nigge* - **** - puss* - cli* - cun* - dic* - shi* - as* - bitc*

If you type these words in their entirety, they will be astericked out. Please refrain from using partial spellings of them, in an attempt to get around the fact that they are banned.

I hope everyone understands that it simply isn't possible for one forum to satisfy the needs and desires of everyone. Some will feel that their flow is hindered because these words are not displayed in their entirety. There will be others that feel comfortable browsing this forum because they won't run into these words.

While it is difficult to find that happy medium, it's my job to try and do.

You all know that I'm open to workable solutions and very flexible. This issue ultimately comes down to satisfying myself regarding the integrity and wholesomeness of this forum ... or satisfying everyone else's desire to be able to say whatever they please. If you have suggestions on how both can be achieved, I'd love to hear them.

The 9 words listed above are the original ones added to the list, but since that time, the list has grown. It will continue to grow as we see words added to the community that are considered inappropriate by the Moderating Team. You'll know these words, because when you type them, they will be astericked out, ******.

Please try to refrain from going around this feature by spelling the word in a different way. It makes us think you have no respect for how we'd like things to be done here.

language is prohibited it will be breaking our forum/chat
rules we are for the best intrest and safety of the teens
and breaking these rules can result in lost of membership


they are all banned and should not be used
in any other form or respelled ways to get
around them by adding letters / space or any
creativity to get it out they all will come out
with the ***** this will help you know that word
is banned and you can reframe it in a different way
by using a word that may fill in to fit or express
surely and truely we are not trying to hinder any flow
but express our best intrest in the community this all
say that here is not a anything goes place we respect
and honor everyone and their well beings here with
upmost.....

If you curse in chat, you will be asked not to do that.

I think the word negroe should be added to the list, i noticed it be used in a..how can I say this... "unfriendly manner". Usually words get added because there are many who are offended by its use, or there are many who are trying to use it offensively. It would take much more than one or two instances, from one Member, based on one other Member's perception of what was written ... for a rule or restriction to be placed on the entire Family.

If you feel this Member has offended you personally, with what they said, maybe sharing that with them will be enough ... they may not know that what they wrote, could be perceived as you did.
